Fire breaks out on Scots train sparking cancellations across major rail lines

A fire on a train sparked rail chaos across Scotland's Central Belt this afternoon. The blaze broke out within a carriage at Dalmuir Station at around 1.43pm on Monday, October 7.There were no reported casualties but the incident caused widespread disruption with a number of services cancelled or delayed.Affected services included the Helensburgh to Edinburgh line and the Dalmuir services to Motherwell and Larkhall, all of which run through Glasgow.A ScotRail statement on the incident read: "[Due to] a train fault at Dalmuir, all services through Dalmuir will be affected.

No services will call at platform 1."Customers can travel on train services via Yoker between Hyndland and Dalmuir in both directions.

Train services running through this station may be cancelled, delayed or revised."A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were alerted at 1.43pm on Monday, October 7, to reports of a fire within a train carriage at Dalmuir Train Station."Operations Control mobilised three appliances to the scene.
