The family of a pensioner killed in a Lanarkshire car crash have told of how they are "devastated" at his death. Michael McManamon, 73, from Glasgow died after a Mercedes C220 was involved in a crash with a Ford Mondeo last Friday on Mill Street in Rutherglen.

The 80-year-old male driver of the Mercedes was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he died a short time later.In a statement Mr McManamon’s family said: "We are devastated at the loss of our much loved dad, papa and friend."He will be sorely missed but we are comforted by the messages from the community, who valued his help and friendship over the many years".Residents on the street have also told of their horror after the tragedy.
One local who lives at the scene told Lanarkshire Live : "We heard a loud thump outside and didn’t know what it was.
