Pedestrian dies after horror three-vehicle crash in East Kilbride

A pedestrian has died following a horror three-vehicle smash on the A726 Queensway in East Kilbride.The incident unfolded shortly after 6.30pm on Wednesday, December 7, when officers were alerted to a collision on the eastbound carriageway of the road east of the roundabout junction with Murrayhill and Cornwall Street.Emergency services, including Police Scotland and Scottish Ambulance Service, raced to the scene but sadly, the 35-year-old man was pronounced dead upon arrival.

The cars involved were a black Citroen Berlingo van, a silver Seat Leon car and a white Vauxhall Crossland car. No one else was hurt in the event.The road was locked down for around six hours while crash site investigators carried out enquiries into the tragedy, and photos taken at the spot this morning show the area cordoned off by tape.The road has since reopened, but police are continuing their probe.

They want to hear from anyone with any information on what happened to come forward.Sergeant Gemma Blackadder, of the Road Policing Unit, in Motherwell said: "Our thoughts are with the man's family and friends at this difficult time."Our enquiries to establish the full circumstances which led to this incident are ongoing and I would urge anyone with information to get in touch."We would also be keen to speak to anyone who may have dashcam footage from the area.
