Family raises £50,000 for charity after losing daughter to rare condition

A family's golf fundraiser has raised more than £50,000 in memory of Paisley supermarket worker Danielle McKee.Angela and Craig McKee, both 53, held a golf day fundraiser in memory of their daughter Danielle, who sadly passed away in 2017.

The fundraiser boosted the Max Appeal, which looks to help support people and families who have been affected by DiGeorge Syndrome, which ravages the immune system and leaves patients more susceptible to illness.Danielle, who used to work in Morrisons at Anchor Mills, sadly lost her life at the age of 23 just two days after being diagnosed with cancer in November 2017She has been described as a “fun-loving” young woman who loved going to “exotic destinations”.

DiGeorge is a condition that 1-in-4000 children are affected by, with the disease attacking the body’s defences. Don't miss the latest headlines from around Renfrewshire.
