The family of a Scots child killer’s victim are fighting to find out why he is back in jail. Adam Stein, from Glasgow, was jailed for the rape and murder of six-year-old Collette Gallacher in a Northamptonshire town in 1986.He was released in 2016 but imprisoned again for four years at the end of last year, and Collette’s sisters say his recall to jail is “cloak and dagger”.
Collette was walking to a bus stop on her way to school in Corby when Stein, whose family are from the Renfrew area, lured her away.The strangled schoolgirl’s body was found six days later in Stein’s attic.
Then aged 26, he was jailed for life and told he would have to serve a minimum of 20 years.The authorities have refused to disclose why Stein, who has been given a new identity, is back behind bars.
Collette’s sisters Claire and Lauren are calling for transparency.Claire, 31, said: “This man hasn’t changed. Why is it cloak and dagger?
