F1 presenter Martin Brundle gives cold shoulder to new cabinet minister ahead of British Grand Prix

Martin Brindle was in no mood to chat with a newly elected member of the government ahead of the Formula 1 British Grand Prix at Silverstone - and brutally shut down the politician's attempt to get himself an interview live on television.Labour MP for Hove Peter Kyle has just been appointed as the Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Technology in new Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer's cabinet following the party's landslide victory in the 2024 UK General Election on Thursday.

F1 presenter Brundle is well known for his pre-race interviews with stars from all walks of life at the legendary British circuit, but on this occasion was not really interested in what the new cabinet minister had to say.As Brindle manoeuvred his way around Silverstone's VIP pit lane where special guests congregate ahead of the big race, he was given a pat on the back by a Labour aide to give Kyle a chance to say a few words with the microphone.

Kyle introduced himself saying: "I am the new Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Technology" and then expressed his delight at getting to watch the world famous race at close quarters.Although he congratulated the politician on his new position, Brundle was clearly keen to end the conversation, saying: "Good luck, nice to see you," before making an abrupt and awkward exit to find someone else to chat to in the pit.
