It is the rumour that has been flying around the F1 paddock for weeks now but it looks as if Lewis Hamilton won't be joining Ferrari.Team principal Frederic Vasseur has insisted the Italian team has not made an offer to the English driver to move from Mercedes next year.
Hamilton, a seven-time world champion, is a free agent in 2024 and was reportedly offered £40m by Ferrari to make the switch when his contract expires at the end of the current season. Both current Ferrari F1 drivers Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz are contracted to remain at the Maranello-based team next year.
Speaking ahead of the Monaco Grand Prix this weekend, Vasseur appeared to stamp out the rumour of the potential move. He said: "As a joke I could say that two weeks ago you were sending Sainz to Audi, one week ago you sent Leclerc to Mercedes - now I am alone.
You know perfectly that at this stage of the season each week you will have a different story and we are not sending an offer to Lewis Hamilton, we didn't do it."We didn't have discussions.
