But for many, it will be the perfect excuse to burn unwanted waste, releasing all sorts of pollutants into the sky. That's according to experts at BusinessWaste.co.uk, who want to remind people that burning waste is still fly tipping and if caught, could result in hefty fines.
According to the Scottish Government, the fixed penalty notice for fly tipping is £200 and if a person is convicted, they could be hit with a staggering £40,000 fine and a 12 month prison sentence.“We know a thing or two about the right way to get rid of trash”, said Mark Hall, spokesperson for the waste and recycling company. “Don’t get burnt with a big fine for burning your rubbish.
