Since artificial intelligence (AI) skyrocketed to fame, many have voiced concerns about whether the technology could steal our jobs.

New research says it could – whilst also opening doors for new lines of work. Experts have warned that AI will "destroy old jobs and create new ones" as a new study reveals as much as 70 per cent of tasks in computer-based jobs could be transformed or replaced by AI.

A new report by the Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR) has concluded that jobs reliant on computer-based tasks such as project management, marketing and admin are most likely to be reshaped AI.

The analysis of 22,000 common tasks performed by workers found that most could be significantly transformed or replaced by AI, with experts warning the technology was likely to have a “seismic impact” on the economy and society. “AI capabilities are advancing at breath-taking speed,” said Carsten Jung, head of AI at the IPPR. “The launch of ‘AI agents’ shows AI is different from past technologies.
