Former Bolton Wanderers attacker Marcus Maddison has joined non-league side Darlington. The 28-year-old originally joined Wanderers in January 2021, on loan from Charlton Athletic.
He went on to play 10 times for the club, before his loan spell was ended early after admitting he had fallen out of love with the game and took time out from it for mental health reasons.
He later moved to non-league Spalding United and has now joined Alun Armstrong's outfit. The move is subject to FA and National League approval. Maddison is now looking forward to getting back playing in his native North East and resume his playing carerr. Speaking to Darlington's YouTube channel, Maddison said: “Things didn’t go well at Bolton and, headspace, I just wasn’t in the right way to play football anymore.
