Jack Iredale believes Bolton Wanderers will have a step up in their pre-season preparations when they take on League Two side Stockport County this afternoon.

Wanderers have won their opening two clashes in pre-season against non-league opposition. They beat Longridge Town 9-0 and followed it up with a 3-1 victory over the weekend versus Chorley.

This afternoon, Evatt will take his side to County's training ground for a behind closed doors workout. The game is not being held at either the University of Bolton Stadium or Edgeley Park owing to pitch renovation work at both grounds. He said: “I think when you are playing against better opposition you get a chance to play better football yourself, and Stockport will be that step up. “I just look forward to the pre-season games and the work that we’re getting in because the more games we get together, the better we’re going to get. “It’ll be a good game, a challenge, and it is something that is only going to benefit us as well if we put into practice the principles we have been working on." Iredale and fellow summer signing, Liverpool loanee Conor Bradley, have come into a group which has been together for a while and are the fresh faces in the squad.
