Evil Valentine’s rapist loses freedom bid as brave Scots victim speaks of ‘relief’

A twisted rapist who gave one of his victims Valentine’s Day flowers after attacking her at a house party has lost his legal bid for freedom.

Kerry Malcolm was left ‘crying and shaking’ after discovering that evil George Newby planned to appeal his conviction just days after being jailed at the High Court in Edinburgh.The 32-year-old was found guilty of raping one woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, in August 2020.

Just six months later, the brute targeted Kerry, 32, and attempted to rape her after she passed out at a party in the capital.

Newby, who was found to pose a ‘high risk of sexual reoffending’, was jailed for seven years and placed on the sex offenders’ register in September last year.He ordered his legal team to appeal both his conviction and sentence but has had the court action rejected by a judge.
