A speeding barrister has been jailed after killing a pensioner in a horror smash. Hamish Hickey, 40, was driving towards Ampleforth, North Yorkshire, in July 2022 with his two children when his Volvo XC40 hit Michael Lupton's Ford Ka.
Hickey was travelling at 65mph over a blind crest in the centre of the road when he hit Mr Lupton's car as the 85-year-old was ascending the hill on the left side of the country lane, Yorkshire Live reports.
The impact forced Mr Lupton's car backwards, onto a grass verge. He was airlifted to hospital, where he died on August 14m, 2022 - 19 days after the crash.
