Everton were denied victory over Manchester United at Goodison Park on Sunday after a controversial offside call. Gylfi Sigurdsson was deemed to have interfered with play as he obstructed David de Gea’s vision.
The Toffees playmaker was on the deck inside the six-yard box after seeing his first effort expertly saved by the keeper. Moments later, though, Dominic Calvert-Lewin saw his shot creep in the near post after a deflection off Harry Maguire wrong-footed De Gea.
The United keeper immediately protested to suggest Sigurdsson had impacted play, despite the Everton man not touching the ball as he pulled his legs away in time.
