Ajax manager Erik ten Hag has labelled Donny van de Beek's lack of progress at Manchester United as a 'mortal sin.' Ten Hag nurtured Van de Beek as a youngster at Ajax, developing him into one of the most promising midfield starlets in the game.
They enjoyed a great stint together in Amsterdam, especially in the remarkable run to the Champions League semi-finals in 2019, in which they advanced past Juventus and Real Madrid before being eliminated by Tottenham.
Van de Beek left the Netherlands in the summer of 2020 in what appeared to be a coup for United, signing the talented playmaker for just £35million from under the noses of Real Madrid.
