England’s Euro 2020 group confirmed after Scotland win renews old rivalry

England manager Gareth Southgate now knows all of his side’s opponents in the group stages of next year’s European Championships.

The tournament - still called Euro 2020 despite being moved to 2021 - is scheduled to get underway in June next year, 12 months after initially planned.

Despite the coronavirus pandemic still wreaking havoc across Europe, UEFA has not changed its plans for the championship to be held in cities all over the continent.

On Thursday, while England easily beat Ireland 3-0 in a friendly, Scotland and Serbia went all the way to penalties in their play-off final as they fought for the final spot in the group containing the Three Lions.
