Netherlands and England soared into the knockout stages of the FIFA Women's World Cup with emphatic victories on day 13. The Dutch cruised top of their group with a 7-0 thrashing of Vietnam, with Jill Roord and Esmee Brugts firing from all cylinders, before a Lauren James brace helped England seal top spot in Group D with a 6-1 win over China.
Defending champions USA scraped through into the knockouts with a 0-0 draw against Portugal whilst Denmark fired to a 2-0 victory over Haiti to also qualify. The Dutch went top of Group E with the win, as Lieke Martens, Katja Snoeijs and Danielle van de Donk found themselves on the scoresheet.
Despite a sprightly start from Vietnam, it was Martens who first found the back of the net on eight minutes and it was a scoring frenzy from there.
