A wall of noise. That’s what met Dynamo Kyiv the last time they were in Glasgow to face Rangers. Even now, almost 40 years on, the Ibrox punters who were there can probably still hear it ringing in their ears.
It was deafening. And widely regarded as one of - if not THE - greatest atmosphere ever felt inside that stadium. For fans of a certain vintage, it will never be beaten.
The new generation will cite the victory over RB Leipzig en route to the Europa League Final two years ago. Or the 1999 classic win over Parma when big Tony Vidmar had the place rocking.
But no. For many, when asked about the loudest roar they’ve ever heard watching Rangers - they’ll say 30 September, 1987 and Dynamo Kyiv.
