When accepting the award, Garner emphasized her "gratitude to all the women in this category" adding "You are the reason why I'm acting." Garner also thanked Jason Bateman and Laura Linney for them "bringing me under your wings and teaching me to be a better actor." The actress added at the end of her speech, "let's try to make this world better.
