There was no luck for the Irish at the 2020 Emmy Awards in Los Angeles last night. Normal People missed out on the four awards it was nominated for - including Paul Mescal who lost to Mark Ruffalo in the best actor category.
Irish actors Fiona Shaw and Andrew Scott also missed out in their acting categories. The ceremony was anchored from downtown Los Angeles by host Jimmy Kimmel, with winners appearing via video feed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Succession, Watchmen and Schitt’s Creek were the biggest winners, as Canadian comedy series Schitt's Creek scooped seven awards and Succession got the outstanding drama series prize.
