Emmerdale fans were left gutted at Amy Wyatt’s exit on Thursday night. Actress Natalie Ann Jamieson has been speaking out about her decision to leave the Dales after six years, admitting she didn’t know the way it would end at first.
On Thursday, Amy was seen tragically passing away in hospital following upsetting scenes as she plunged into a freezing lake in a limo.Amy was admitted with severe hypothermia but was able to tell husband Matty Barton that she loved him before suffering a cardiac arrest, much to the heartbreak of fans.Speaking to the Mirror's Notebook, Natalie revealed why she decided to bid farewell to Emmerdale and her character Amy. "I had been asking for meetings about what was coming up for Amy and saying that I'd really like some challenging, new stuff," she explained."They knew they had this coming up and they didn't have anything planned for Amy - and that was the direction that I wanted to go in."She continued: "It worked out that this was going to be Amy's exit and I didn't know it was going to be death at first.
When they told me, I was like, 'Oh!' It's really hard to know whether you would prefer for your character to die if you're going, or to go in the back of a taxi."There's always a chance that you could potentially go back and you've got all your friends there and you love to work there."However, you are just going in the back of a taxi and the show were like, 'We want to give her something big'."Amy went out in dramatic fashion, falling through the ice while she escaped the limo and Natalie offered some insight into how tricky the filming process was.
