Emergency services swarmed a Stockport street following reports a person had fallen into a reservoir. Firefighters and police were sent out to Dale Street, in Edgeley, last night (August 31).
It was believed that a person had entered the Sykes Reservoir. Eyewitnesses reported seeing a large emergency response to the incident at around 11pm.
Several fire engines, ambulances and incident response units were all in attendance. But in a statement issued this morning, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) confirmed the incident turned out to be a 'false alarm'. A spokesperson for GMFRS said: "We were called out after a report of someone in the reservoir on Dale Street. "We attended but it turned out to be a false alarm so we left after 10 minutes."
