Elliot Page Says It’s ‘Odd’ Saying Goodbye to ‘The Umbrella Academy,’ Hopes Final Season Delivers the ‘Weirdness That People Have Come to Expect’

Selena Kuznikov When Aidan Gallagher joined “The Umbrella Academy,” he was already a huge fan of the comic books of the same name.

But, he didn’t realize that comic co-creator Gerard Way had lead alternative rock band My Chemical Romance. “It made like ultimate sense,” Gallagher, who plays Number Five, told Variety at the premiere of the show’s fourth and final season at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood on Monday night. “When I got the show and made that connection, I’d just channel ‘The Black Parade’ everyday on my way to set, listening to sort of get the rage and chaotic nature of Five.” The new season sees the Hargreeves family stripped of their powers and left to fend for themselves, as a mysterious association believes they’re in the wrong timeline because of the superhero clan.

Elliot Page said it was “odd” to say goodbye to the series after that final “cut” was called. “I think it didn’t even necessarily hit until later,” Page recalled. “To say goodbye to the cast and crew we’ve worked with for years and years, it’s definitely hard.

You really become very familial.” He said he has a lot of gratitude to have been able to be on the show for four seasons as Victor Hargreeves, and hopes audiences “have a blast” and enjoy the final season: “I’m just hoping it gives the emotions, and the humor and the weirdness that people have come to expect.” Emmy Raver-Lampman, who plays Alison Hargreeves, said it hasn’t hit her yet that the show is finally over. “It’s never a final goodbye,” Raver-Lampman said. “These people are in my life forever, and I’m so grateful for that.
