Elias Melkersen could have been turning out for Bodo/Glimt against Celtic next month - but he's so determined to succeed that appearing in Edinburgh regularly holds more appeal.

Melkersen started his football journey at 16 and made his debut for the rising Norwegian force at that age in an 8-0 win over Aga IL in the NM-Cup.Four goals in just seven games for IL Hödd during a loan spell followed and then second-tier success at Ranheim IL proved his top Norwegian talent credentials.Despite 19 goals in 29 matches at that level, Bodo/Glimt's rise to 2020 and 2021 Eliteserien champions - having finished 11th in 2018 - means Melkersen had limited chances.

Now he's been snapped up until 2026 as part of new Hibs boss Shaun Maloney's Easter Road revolution, Bodo/Glimt academy director Greg Broughton says it's a great move for all.

He told Record Sport : "He's a centre-forward who relies on clever movement. He finishes well off both feet and he's got a good first touch in and around the area. "He understands the game really well and most importantly he wants to improve.
