It was a sad week for Manchester fast food lovers with the shocking news that burger pioneers Almost Famous had closed. The M.E.N's own Diane Bourne described the chain as a true Manchester original that spearheaded the "dirty food" trend in the city in 2012.
Taking American fast food trends and tailoring them for the hip Northern Quarter market, the restaurant's towering burger constructions became a lasting hit in the city and beyond.
But on Monday, the chain's owner Beau Myers confirmed the closure of its sites across Manchester, Liverpool and Leeds, blaming the current economic climate and 'lingering debt'.
It's sad to wave goodbye to Almost Famous, especially when it gave many of us our first taste of the filthy indulgence a hamburger could be.
