Arsenal technical director Edu has played a crucial in the seemingly imminent signing of Lille centre-back Gabriel Magalhaes - with the former Gunners midfielder "decisive" in convincing the 22-year-old of a move to north London.
Edu, who was appointed to his role at the Emirates last year, has already lured fellow Brazilian Willian to the club, as well as being instrumental in the signing of Spanish defender Pablo Mari from Flamengo.
After both Arsenal and Napoli agreed a transfer fee with Lille, it was down to the player himself to decide which team offered him a brighter future.
And according to The Telegraph Edu was a crucial factor in persuading Gabriel that the Premier League was for him rather than Serie A.
