Laurie Brett, best known as Albert Square's Jane Beale in EastEnders, is all set for an epic TV comeback, featuring in a flashback episode of the BBC hit series Casualty.The Lanarkshire-born actress, who will be 55 this year, is returning to our screens this Saturday (February 15) for a special cameo on the BBC medical drama, and fans are delighted.
Laurie will step into the role of disciplinarian midwife Marie Mayhew, bringing us a glimpse into character Jodie Whyte's past during her student days at Brockwell Hospital.
As teased by BBC previews, "In her flashback to her days as a student midwife, Jodie grapples with trauma from her past. But as she navigates her heartache, she seeks closure in the wrong places." Jodie, brought to life by Anna Chell, burst onto the medical drama scene in 2023 and has since been entangled in intense plots, from being spiked and abducted to discovering her long-lost father was her boss, not to mention surviving a bomb scare.
