TV fans were excited to see if their favourite soaps had made it on to the shortlist for the much-anticipated BAFTA TV Awards.
So, many viewers were surely disappointed to see that EastEnders had been snubbed in the Soap and Continuing Drama category.
Despite strong storylines, including Gray Atkins’ murders, captivating viewers throughout the year, the popular BBC soap failed to get a nod.
Instead, fellow shows Emmerdale, Coronation Street, Casualty and Holby City - which came to a heartbreaking close last night - have all secured a nomination.The four long-running series will now go head to head at the glitzy ceremony on Sunday 8 May at London's Royal Festival Hall, once again hosted by Richard Ayoade.
