Former EastEnders actor John Altman has confessed that he and June Brown were not happy that Dotty had been recast. John, who played nasty Nick Cotton from 1985 until 2015, said that he had "no idea what goes on in [soap bosses'] brains sometimes" as he spoke about the recasting.
Among many of Nick's returns to Albert Square was alongside his seven-year-old daughter Dotty in 2008, played by Molly Conlin.
She left the BBC soap two years later but in 2019, she was recast as Milly Zero in 2019. Speaking to Entertainment Daily, John said: "June wasn’t pleased and nor was I because the former actress, Molly Conlin, was quite capable of playing that part. "I’ve no idea on God’s earth why they recast it.
