EastEnders fans were treated to a rare sight indeed on Thursday’s edition of the BBC soap, when two long standing background characters were introduced to newcomer George Knight.
Market trader Winston was the first star to appear, as viewers at home saw him greet newcomer George Knight, before explaining who he was to fellow resident Whitney Dean.
Meanwhile later in the episode, barmaid Tracey, who many fans will recognise for her “silent” role in the show, was actually treated to a line in the soap as she met new pub owner George, while co-owners Elaine Peacock and Linda Carter could be heard arguing in the background.
The surprising appearances made a huge change for the stars, who typically aren’t given speaking roles in the soap, despite making regular appearances.
