East Kilbride pupils helped load truckload of vital aid bound for war-torn Ukraine this Christmas

High school pupils in East Kilbride played a part in making sure an incredible nine tonnes of humanitarian aid reached Ukrainian families devastated by war this Christmas.Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February this year, the people of East Kilbride have contributed to a massive £1million humanitarian aid effort.Over 100 volunteers and more than 50 organisations have been involved in collecting, sorting and transporting five lorries carrying over 10,000 donations (over 45 tonnes) of vital aid to help people fleeing war-torn Ukraine.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.
