Eamonn Holmes has taken a savage swipe at This Morning presenters Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, amidst claims they skipped the queue at the Queen's lying-in-state.

The former This Morning host has been liking posts on Twitter suggesting that the pair should be sacked from presenting the morning chat show.

One tweet he’s liked features a meme of himself, and wife and former co-presenter Ruth Langsford laughing, with words written: "When you reach the front of the queue." The person who shared the image captioned it: “I always preferred @EamonnHolmes and @RuthieeL #ThisMorning.” They then added: “There should be sacked Eamonn and Ruth are far better than them idiots.” Replying to the tweet Eamonn posted a series of praying hands, making his feelings on the queue-jumping fiasco quite clear.

This comes despite ITV bosses denying the queue jump accusations . In a statement posted to the This Morning Instagram page, a spokesperson wrote: “Hello everyone, we would like to clarify something. “We asked Phillip and Holly to be part of a film for this Tuesday's programme. “They did not jump the queue, have VIP access or file past the Queen lying in state - but instead were there in a professional capacity as part of the world's media to report on the event.” The pair were also forced to apologise on air when the show made its return on Tuesday morning.
