Eamonn Holmes has become a household name across the UK over the years and is perhaps best known for his work at ITV, where he hosted the Friday edition of This Morning alongside with his wife Ruth for 15 years between 2006 and 2021.
But it’s less well known that the Northern Irish presenter’s big break came as a Farming Reporter for Ulster Television, which he joined in 1979.
At the time, he was married to his first wife Gabrielle Holmes, who he met and married in the summer of 1976.The pair had three children together between 1986 and 1990 - 37 year old Declan, 35 year old Rebecca and 33 year old Niall.
Their marriage eventually fell apart when they separated in 1994 - with Eamonn later confessing that they grew apart after the death of his father but that the split was “amicable.” In 1996, Eamonn moved to the UK to work on GMTV with Fiona Phillips, where he stayed for nine years until 2006 when he began presenting the Sunrise programme on Sky News.
