The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has launched a new online portal to help people on legacy benefits during the move to Universal Credit.
The dedicated ‘Move to Universal Credit’ website replaces the existing ‘Understanding Universal Credit’ site, and offers essential information for claimants due to receive a Managed Migration letter before their legacy benefit ends.
The DWP will also be raising awareness about the move to Universal Credit through a nationwide advertising campaign, to ensure those on Income Support, Tax Credits, Housing Benefits, Income Based Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) and Income Based JobSeeker’s Allowance (JSA) know they will be invited to claim Universal Credit.
The ramp up comes after the DWP announced a timetable of when people on all legacy benefits can expect to receive a Migration Notice, inviting them to claim Universal Credit.DWP said that people who receive a letter but don’t act within three months risk losing their current benefit entitlements.
