It's a film that has gone down in comedy history. But Jeff Daniels has admitted he feared Dumb and Dumber might "end" his career.

The 69 year old actor, who portrayed the bumbling Harry alongside Jim Carrey's Lloyd in the 1994 comedy classic, opened up about his trepidation regarding the film's infamous toilet scene.

Speaking to USA Today, he recalled: "It's one thing to read the toilet scene, but then the day comes and we're actually going to do the toilet scene." He shared his concerns with Jim, saying: "I told Jim, 'This is either the beginning of my career or the end of it.'" Carrey, ever the confident performer, reassured him: "Jim, who is fearless, told me, 'It's going to be great.

You've just got to go all the way with it.'".The encouragement from Jim led Jeff to fully commit to the performance. He described the experience as: "That was a couple hours of porcelain gymnastics.
