Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh is said to be 'praying' for an OAP who was reportedly run down by a police motorbike that was part of the royal's motorcade.
The woman in her 80s has been taken to hospital in a critical condition and her family have been made aware of the incident.
Photographs from the scene show a Special Escort Group police bike - commonly used to escort royals - inside a police cordon, the Express reports.The Metropolitan Police said that a police motorcycle collided with a pedestrian at around 3:21pm on Wednesday at the junction of Cromwell Road and Warwick Road, SW5 while on escort duties.Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service and London Air Ambulance were present at the scene and the victim was transported to hospital where she remains severely injured.No other injuries were reported and inquiries into the crash are ongoing while road closures currently remain in place.
The force said the Directorate of Professional Standards which investigates officers' conduct has been informed of the accident as a part of standard procedure.
