Criminals are feared to have been working in children’s homes to recruit kids as drug runners. In one case, four workers have been quizzed, a Mirror probe found.
One expert said: “The kids become easy targets for criminal gangs who want to exploit them.” A 10-month Mirror investigation has uncovered claims by whistleblowers that care home staff are grooming children to sell drugs.
Workers at a home in Lancashire run by Children 4 Care reported smelling cannabis on the premises and in staff cars, and finding mobile phones and “snap” bags used for drug deals.
Police warned earlier this year that drugs gangs were placing junior members into care homes, but this is thought to be the first allegation of staff being involved.
