A drink-driver in a Mercedes ploughed into four teenagers, leaving two with serious injuries. Peter Adenuga was more than twice the alcohol limit when his car hit the group as they stopped to speak to a taxi driver.
One of the teenagers was left with a bleed on the brain and fractures to the skull, shoulder and elbow. A second suffered a dislocated knee, broken hip and fractures to the face.
The other two escaped with cuts and grazes. The group was walking down Budworth Road, Northwich, Cheshire, at 11.30pm on July 16, 2022, when Adenuga of Greengage, Ardwick, Manchester, slammed into four of the five pedestrians who had stopped. He later registered a reading of 82mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath - the legal limit is 35mg. Adenuga was charged with drink driving, to which he pleaded guilty.
