Neighbours have spoken of their horror after a woman was found dead inside a house following a 'stabbing'. It comes after Greater Manchester Police revealed that they have launched a murder investigation after the 35-year-old was found dead with "multiple wounds" in Bury.

The woman, who has not yet been named, was discovered at a property on Walnut Avenue, to the east of the town centre on Friday night (September 6).

Officers from GMP attended after receiving "reports of a concern for welfare" at around 10:30pm. READ MORE: Woman dead after suffering 'multiple wounds' as murder probe opened in Bury On arrival, they found the woman, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Those who live on the street have spoken of the moment the alarm was raised on Friday evening. “Me daughter heard the screaming and the police were called straight away,” a woman said. “If she hadn’t heard that, you can’t even begin to imagine.” They said they heard it all ‘kicking off’ before a neighbour from across the road ran over to help. “She was face down, he felt her pulse but she was already gone," the woman added. “It's usually so quiet around here, nothing like that ever happens.” Another neighbour added: “Things like this don’t happen around here, it’s usually so quiet.
