Crews from Derbyshire and Greater Manchester were alerted to the blaze at Woodhead Tunnel, near Glossop, on Wednesday evening.
A photo was taken of the fire as it ripped through the moorland after what was one of the hottest days of the year so far. According to Glossop Fire, the blaze was brought under control last night.
Rangers will inspect the land again this morning. Another warning was issued urging people not to have BBQ's on moorland, just days after officials at Manchester Fire and Rescue Service urged people to be careful to prevent another
