Dramatic aerial photos showed an overturned lorry laying in the middle of a main road after smashing into the central reservation on Monday (October 21).
The A56 was closed in both directions throughout the afternoon and evening after the HGV crashed to the ground. Emergency services were called to the scene of the collision near Haslingden at around 2.17pm.
The bypass was closed by police, with fire cres and paramedics also attending. No injuries were reported in the collision, which occurred near to the McDonald's roundabout. National Highways said the lorry collided with the central reservation causing 'extensive damage' as police warned the road would be closed 'for some time'.
