The music mogul, 55, - who boasts an estimated net worth of $800million - and Nicole, 51, cited irreconcilable differences as they filed for divorce in June, effectively ending their 24-year marriage.
Now the musician will hand over $2million to cover her expenses for the next few months until they can agree ona final figure, The Blast reports.
Dr Dre - whose real name is Andre Romelle Young - is set to pay her the lump sum as he continues to recover in hospital following his life-threatening brain aneurism.
