Dr Brenda Page penned an ominous letter calling off her relationship with ex-husband Christopher Harisson just days before he murdered her.The University of Aberdeen scientist was found dead in her home 45 years ago.

And on Thursday, March 9, Harrisson was found guilty of murdering his former wife, who was 32 at the time. The 82-year-old faces spending the rest of his life behind bars reports Aberdeen Live.Dr Page suffered for years at the hands of Harrisson, who carried out a campaign of abuse and stalking.

She was hospitalised over the course of "a catalogue of violent abuse" dating back to the start of their relationship, a senior police officer said.The pair married in 1972, but later the couple divorced in 1977.

One year later, on July 14, she was found dead in her home with "obvious open wounds" which police later concluded had been caused by repeated strikes with a blunt implement.A briefing on the 45-year fight to bring Harrisson to justice was led by Detective Inspector Gary Winter of Police Scotland's Major Investigation Team.At the trial at the High Court in Aberdeen, DI Winter said: "Enquiries revealed that Brenda was domestically abused from the beginning of the relationship and was hospitalised on more than one occasion following assaults to her head."They bought a house together off Mile-End Place where Harrisson still lives.
