Donald Trump Indicted on Charges of Mishandling Classified Documents

Donald Trump has been indicted for the second time. On Thursday (June 8), it was reported that federal prosecutors charged the 76-year-old former president following an investigation into his retention of national security documents at his Mar-a-Lago home in Florida. Keep reading to find out more… Trump was indicted on “charges of wilful retention of national security material, obstruction and conspiracy,” a source familiar with the matter shared with The Guardian.

Previously, prosecutors have said that Trump took over 300 classified documents to Mar-a-Lago after leaving the White House in January 2021, and close to 100 of those documents were seized during an FBI raid in August 2022.

The new criminal charges means that Trump is now a defendant in a second case after he was indicted back in March in the state of New York over his role in hush-money payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels in 2016.

For that case, Trump could face up to 136 years in prison if found guilty on all 34 counts. In May, Trump was deemed liable in a battery and defamation trial after he was sued by E.
