The NHS advises that adults should be getting 150 minutes of moderate, or 75 minutes of vigorous movement a week.But it turns out that doing a small amount, even a brisk walk, daily is better than nothing at all.
That's according to researchers at the University of Cambridge, who found that one in 10 premature deaths could be prevented if everyone did at least half the advised amount of physical activity.A study published last year in the British Journal of Sports Medicine also found that such a small workout could be enough to lower the risk of serious conditions like heart disease.
Scientists say their findings could prove inspirational to those who struggle to meet their daily movement goals.Dr Soren Brage from the MRC Epidemiology Unit said: “If you are someone who finds the idea of 150 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity a week a bit daunting, then our findings should be good news.
