Kevin Smith‘s Dogma is finally in the works.During an appearance at Vulture Festival on Sunday (November 17), Smith revealed that he’s working on a sequel to the 1999 Matt Damon– and Ben Affleck-led comedy drama film.

He said to a live audience: “Some people will be like, ‘Don’t fucking touch it. You’ll ruin it.’ And I’m here to tell you: I will.

I’m fucking tickled. I found a way in.”Smith went on to reveal that he’s certain Damon and Affleck will return to reprise their roles in some shape or form: “Expect a cameo from them — more than a fucking cameo.

The only way we get a Dogma sequel made is if they’re there. So count on those guys being there.”Dogma starred Damon and Affleck as fallen angels Loki and Bartleby respectively and featured appearances from Salma Hayek, Alan Rickman, Chris Rock, Jason Lee and Alanis Morissette, Jason Mewes and Smith.Expanding on why he’s confident that Damon and Affleck will return for Dogma 2, Smith said their relationship goes back to 1997, when he saved their film Goodwill Hunting from developmental hell – the film went on to be a critical success.
