A dog that stole the nation's hearts after getting trapped underground has been freed. Rose, a Jack Russell, fell through a 12-inch gap in a rock face in Halifax and has been trapped ever since.
For eight days a team a determined team of rescuers have been passing her food and water whilst drilling into the rock face trying to reach her.
Diggers and drills were used to excavate the rock, along with hand tools and other equipment, with many tools left damaged during the work. Volunteers from across Yorkshire and beyond arrived in their droves to help in any way they could, Yorkshire Live reports. Despite this effort, workers headed to the site over the past eight days to try to dig poor Rose.
