A guest staying at a plush Scots hotel was left disgusted after finding an 'army of ants' crawling around his room.David Maison, 44, was visiting Edinburgh for a birthday night away with his partner and decided to check into the four-star Malmaison Hotel in Leith.
After forking out £223 for his stay, he woke up on Sunday to find a bug in the bathroom. He then noticed several more before picking up his towel to find 'dozens' of ants.
It's believed the insects appeared from a crack in the tiles.David told Edinburgh Live: "It certainly didn't ease us into the day looking down at the floor and seeing ants everywhere - it was really grim."We went out for the night on Saturday and it wasn't until the morning I noticed what I thought was a fly on the floor and I then saw a second one around towels and clothes then I picked them up and there was just a swarm of them."They were all over the tiles.
It looked like they were coming from under the bath. It was pretty gross and when you're coming back from a night out, trying to pack up and check out you don't want to be stepping around ants and making sure there's none in your clothes."Get the latest news sent straight to your messages by joining our WhatsApp community today. You'll receive daily updates on breaking news as well as the top headlines across Scotland. No one will be able to see who is signed up and no one can send messages except the Daily Record team. All you have to do is click here if you're on mobile, select 'Join Community' and you're in!If you're on a desktop, simply scan the QR code above with your phone and click 'Join Community'.We also treat our community members to special offers, promotions, and adverts from us and our partners.
