An amateur fisherman was shocked to find more than 40 dead sea birds at a Scottish beauty spot - amid fears of a bird flu outbreak.
Daniel Hanson, from Edinburgh, was alarmed at the the number of dead birds he came across following a visit to Newhaven Breakwater, on September 11.
The fisherman worries there is an "ecological disaster" and believes the rise of the dead birds is "shocking". He told Edinburgh Live and that he fears the issue being "on his doorstep" and wants to see action.
The Scottish Seabird Centre has described the spread of bird flu as a "complicated picture"Daniel said: "Recently I have been noticing a lot of dead sea birds and it seems to be down to bird flu."However, I went fishing at Newhaven breakwater through Monday night into Tuesday morning and the amount of dead sea birds was shocking - there were definitely over 40."A couple of weeks ago, I was watching these same birds actively hunting and on Tuesday it was a high water mark full of dead birds.
