Manchester United hero Dimitar Berbatov has revealed the unusual method he used to spur himself on during his Bayer Leverkusen days.
Before becoming a household name during his time in England, the Bulgarian plied his trade in the Bundesliga with great success.
Berbatov flourished during his Leverkusen spell, and the striker puts his good run in front of goal down to the fact he motivated himself with old newspaper clippings. "Every shirt of the teams I played for are special for me, from teams in Bulgaria, England, Germany to France and Greece," he told Betfair’s Lockdown Lowdown podcast. "Probably the one shirt that is the most special to me is the Bulgarian one that I broke the all-time goal scoring record in.
